These classic works of art use various plants and flower arrangements to convey a timeless serenity, while at the same time allowing one the flexibility of incorporating modern accents into a design theme.

The right still life tapestry can blend seamlessly with a room’s furniture and accessories (such as lamps and other lighting fixtures), while at the same time providing the perfect visual enhancement to offset contemporary surroundings. Floral tapestries have a way of establishing a sense of balance in a room, perhaps because they remind us of an inherent need to be grounded in the natural and organic.

Why Are Flowers Contemporary?

At first glance, it’s easy to understand why some floral tapestries may almost seem unsuitable for the modern home. After all, many elaborate original tapestries were woven in centuries past and now reside in historical European museums. Cultures all over the world have embraced floral still life art for centuries in different ways, for different reasons.

But one could also argue that it is precisely this diversity of appreciation that has lent itself well to contemporary applications. Keep in mind that modern interior design tends to focus on creating space and light. If you choose a floral tapestry with bright and natural colors, the openness of the contemporary theme is highlighted.

Another way to understand the appeal of floral still life in contemporary culture is to understand the complex philosophical and sociological issues the modern world faces. For many, a floral tapestry can offer a metaphorical glimpse into the human condition. Flowers are often viewed as representing an inescapable frailty, while simultaneously providing a sense of hope and optimism.

A Wide Assortment of Choices

Incorporating floral still life tapestries into your contemporary design theme does not mean that you have to sacrifice individuality when developing a modern feel. In fact, quite the opposite is true.

The open, airy nature of many modern and post-modern themes means that the tapestry you choose can reflect whatever you want it to reflect. There are so many combinations and choices available on the market that you should have no problem finding a piece that not only encompasses your personality and individual style, but also retains the spacious, open characteristics of contemporary design.

The Ivy Column

Consider a portrait such as the Ivy Column tapestry, which combines all the significant elements of contemporary design into a vivid display of ambient surrealism. Sunlight shines on a country house with a stunning array of colorful foliage surrounding it.

The inclusion of the pond in this portrait only further solidifies the sense that all forms of nature are represented in the piece. In essence, this piece has it all – that is, something for everyone.

Complexity in Openness

A range of complex personalities can be accurately represented in pieces such as the Ivory Mural tapestry, the Floral Decadence tapestry, and the classic Directoire tapestries. These remarkable works of art manage to capture the bright, cheerful colors associated with many contemporary designs, yet the intricate floral patterns and organic settings are likely to inspire and challenge the thinking person’s awareness for years to come.

Beauty in Simplicity

On the other hand, some people believe less is more – an equally valid assertion in modern design preferences. The Prestige (Dawn) tapestry and the Prestige (Midday) tapestry are both perfect examples of how the focus on a simple tree can speak volumes.

These tapestry portraits allow the imagination to run wild in the fantasy world depicted by the artists who developed them. The natural landscapes depicted in these pieces exist nowhere in the actual world, yet it is not at all difficult to image that they could. The viewer is drawn in to the simplicity of a single tree, yet the artist manages to capture other faint still life images of birds and plant life in the background. The approach is both subtle and effective.

Floral funeral arrangements

A funeral director should be a person who can provide support during times of great need by acting as an experienced source of guidance. As in any business, some funeral directors are more up front than others. Here are three questions to make sure you get the best service available, and at the best cost.

1. What services do you provide?
Since memorial homes are often family businesses, services offered vary by establishment. Look for directors that offer consolation and act as listeners, crisis managers, and tribute planners. Possible tasks for your funeral director include:

- Completing any necessary paperwork,
- Contacting physicians, florists, newspapers, and any other vendors,
- Attaining licenses and death certificates,
- Contacting family, friends, and solicitors,
- Coordinating the details of a funeral service or memorial services with clergy members, and
- Recommending local support groups and other sources of professional help.

Often, funeral directors’ most important role is taking care of the body. Be sure to ask your director what options are available for internment. These choices may include:

- Earth burial: one of the most popular forms of interment. This requires a cemetery plot and usually includes additional costs such as fees for opening and closing the grave.

- Aboveground Burial: this type of entombment requires purchasing a crypt within a mausoleum designed specifically for that purpose.

- Cremation: Cremation usually involves placing an urn in a columbarium. An urn could also be buried in a cemetery. If cremation is chosen, services such as visitation, the viewing of the body, a memorial service, and funeral service may still be conducted.

- Anatomical Gifts: Organs and tissues may be donated without interfering with the preparation of the body for funeral services. A funeral director should be able to guide one through this process.

2. What is the cost?
Funeral directors must provide the consumer with service prices over the phone and be able to provide the same in writing before any goods are shown. All costs associated with any services must be explained: no hidden fees are allowed. Before making any payments, see that all costs and services are in writing.

Directors should never be charge an extra fee for purchasing internment containers elsewhere. Additionally, they must go over all the options for disposition: cremation, embalming, direct burial, etc.

A funeral director can assist budgeting, arranging payment plans, and suggesting financial assistance options. Local funeral and memorial organizations can help point one to a reputable funeral home and may be even able to negotiate discount rates for those in need.

3. Why should I hire you?
Like any business owners, funeral directors should be able to tell you what sets them apart from their competitors. Also consider how much experience this person has acting as a director and what type of support staff is in place. Ask if the staff receives mandatory on-going training to ensure professional development.

Floral table arrangements

So you’re getting married! In the midst of everything, you are faced with the question: what about the flowers?

It’s easier than you think. Here are seven steps to making it easy for you to manage this:

First, go back to your motif or wedding theme. If it’s a color, you already have narrowed down the choices. If it’s a theme, that would also have colors in it and a classification, too.

Second, do some research. Ask your friends, especially the married ones. Look into magazines and books. Go online and see what’s out there. Find out what flowers are locally grown too.

Third, go to florists. They have catalogues of their best works, not to mention a deeper knowledge of what is in style and, more importantly, what’s in season (flowers in season are cost less).

Fourth, check out your venues and see how it can be accented. Bring a friend or your florist for this, if you’ve already chosen one. Make sure you discuss flowers for the altar or chupah (if it’s a religious ceremony) and the backdrop (if the venue allows this); also talk about the runners down the aisle, the pew accents, and the entrance arrangements.

For the reception, if it’s a separate venue, make sure that your flowers and arrangements are consistent with the ceremony. Do not forget that special placement on the bridal table. Miniatures of this can be placed as centerpieces on the dining tables for the guests. You also have to make sure that there are flowers and decorations for the cake table, entrance, walls and backdrop. If you’ve chosen a garden reception, that already takes care of the surroundings so you’ll just have to think of the tables.

Fifth, look at the ladies in your entourage and the gowns. Find what kind of arrangements fit the cut. The flower girls usually get baskets of petals and cut flowers. This can be accented with balloons and confetti. The bridesmaids and junior bridesmaids get smaller bouquets. Some designs permit single stems with bows for them. Sponsors and mothers can have a pick of corsages on the bodice or wrist, hip accents or bag blooms. As for you, dear bride, don’t skimp on your bouquet – all attention will be on you and what you’re holding. Just make sure it’s not too heavy and it’s comfortable to carry.

Fruit floral arrangements

A wedding is a part of perhaps the most beautiful moments of a couple's life. And every couple strives to make this occasion as beautiful as they can. In order to enhance beauty of the occasion, what really come in handy are flowers.

Well, your guests would cherish the memory of mesmerizing floral arrangements in the wedding ambiance for long. Yes, a wedding celebration could be memorable if floral decoration is done aesthetically.

Usually, by wedding flowers we mean bridal bouquet, flower bouquets (to be placed on reception tables) and floral adornments for the wedding or reception party.

Nowadays, customized wedding ceremonies are on the block. An increasing number of couples want to enter into the wedlock in their own perceived style and fashion. Most often, they show earnest willingness for a unique theme wedding that they have dreamed for long. And flowers prove to be of great help in making their dream come true.

For unique floral arrangement, it is always preferred to seek help of a florist having expertise in wedding floral arrangements. With the help of the florist, you should try to choose the best possible flowers to suit your theme wedding. For bridal bouquet, it is always good to take a picture of bridal dress to the florist.

By making the florist acquainted with details of wedding including bridal dress, venue and ambiance, you can get best possible flower decorations in consonance with your theme wedding.

You can go for a floral arrangement that happens to be a combination of real and silk flowers. However, a complete real flower decoration is much sought after because of natural fragrance of flowers that creates an enchanting atmosphere.

Bridal bouquet must be chosen carefully as it happens to add elegance and charm to the bride. If you are going for theme wedding, you should keep your theme bridal gown in mind while choosing flowers for the bouquet that you would carry on the wedding. If bouquet doesn't go well with your bridal dress, your entire theme would be at stake. On the other hand, a bouquet that perfectly gels with the dress would give you a complete look.

While choosing flowers, you must not compromise on sobriety of the occasion. But, flower selection to great extent would depend on the kind of wedding that you are planning for yourself. If you are longing for an exuberant and informal wedding, you can suggest your florist to use flowers of vibrant colors as these colors depict fervor and vitality. For a traditional church wedding, it is recommended to do floral arrangements with white and sober color flowers.

White floral arrangements

Wheat is the most common cereal used throughout the world for making bread. It is a good source of energy. With its essential coating of bran, vitamins and minerals, it is an excellent health-building food.

Wheat is usually ground into flour for use as food. However refined wheat flour constitutes a serious health hazard of the various processed foods being used today for their delicious taste, white flour (maida) is especially harmful. The colossal loss of vitamins and mineral in refined wheat flour has led to widespread prevalence of constipation and other related disgestine disturbance and nutritional disorders, particularly diabetes. The consumption of white flour is thus an important contributory cause of diabetes, and its aggravation, if the disease has already developed.

White Salt

Common salt or sodium chloride is a major factor in maintaining the acid base equilibrium of the body. It is also essential for the production of hydrochloric acid in the stomach. Thus, while a certain amount of salt essential for the body system, it is required in very small quantities, ranging from 10 to 15 g per day.

Excessive use of salt puts extra burden on the kidneys, may cause high blood pressure, which is closely linked with diabetes. Excessive intake of salt promotes water retention in the body, which in due course may lead to obesity, which is a potent cause of diabetes. Too much salt is thus harmful and may promote or hasten the onset of diabetes.

Salt (sodium chloride) and sodium preservatives are added to most processed foods. A sodium-controlled diet must avoid or limit salted snacks; pickles and many others processed convenience foods.

Tea and Coffee

Drinking tea and coffee is a serious health hazard for the diabetic. The most alkaloid principle in both tea and coffee is caffeine. Caffeine is an addictive drug similar to cocaine in as much as it stimulates the central nervous system. While these effects are short-lived, it has been observed that they lead to withdrawal symptoms of irritability, lethargy, headaches and anxiety. The daily intake of tea and coffee causes indigestion and gas formation, diarrhea, and constipation. They also increase the blood sugar level, which may lead to diabetes or aggravate its symptoms where the disease is already present.

Design floral arrangements

For something such as a bedroom design you'll want to think long and hard about precisely what it is that you're going to do. Sure you know that you want to redecorate your chamber but before you do anything too drastic you should decide what type of redesigning you want to do. You could literally get overwhelmed as to where to start. Just take a deap breath and move forward on your vision of the new room with it's new look. Remember that it doesn't need to be anything dramatic or unusual because in the end you will have live with it, and unless you're conformable to remodel your new bedroom design and change it altogether.

In which case you can play around and find out precisely what you like at your leisure and not vex about whether the furnishings you bought would suit. But a flock of people won't be able to do that and they will need to fall back to doing it the old fashioned way, or of course you have another option, and that's to recourse to the use of home decorating software. Software puts most of the visualization into perspective, especially with bedroom design.

If you don't want to go that road either you always have the choice of doing it the old fashioned way. With this method you might not get as much visualisation as with the others but you can still accomplish great results. The problem here is that sometimes it's very difficult to see what the end outcome of your bedroom design will be like.

The best way to start is to get a pencil and a piece of paper and to mark out very close to what your room shape is. If you have trouble visualizing it then move into the bedroom and see what results you get. Next you should mark out the most visible aspects of the existing bedroom design which will be unchangeable, like doors and windows. Remember, stay objective and just pencil in what is currently existing and not what your mind might be seeing.

After that it's a hop, skip and a jump to go on to the next step which is to play more or less on paper where you would like the heavier furnishings to go. And if you want to keep them where they are that's also fine because your bedroom design should be one that you're going to be pleased with. One that you feel comfortable in because after all it is you and possibly your mate that will be spending the time there.

Then ideally you should settle down on a color scheme. It doesn't need to be the same as the one in your existing bedroom design, it might be nice if you can change the whole thing round and turn the whole room on its head. After you settle on a color scheme there is only way to go and that is forward.

Silk floral arrangements

Yes, take a look again. Is that bunch of lovely pink peonies artfully arranged in the clear vase in water real? Look at those calla lilys how breathtaking and perfect. Ah, lilacs, my favorite flowers. Look how fresh they are. Hey, wait a minute... it's the middle of August! How can they be so fresh! Surprise... they're silk!

Artificial flowers have come a long way. From the days of hideous heavy petaled plastic daisies and roses that our grandmothers used to have in their homes to breathtaking silk orchids and forsythia, freesia and magnolias. The silk flower market is a growing one with many silk flower manufacturers paying attention to detail, and to the growing acceptance of silk flowers.

Many brides today are choosing silk flowers instead of real flowers for their bouquets. Aside from the fact that it's almost impossible to tell the difference between silk flowers and real flowers, a bride getting married in the fall can now carry lovely cabbage roses and spring flowers in her bouquet - even though cabbage roses bloom in the spring. Using silk flowers a bride can have any type of flower she wants in a bouquet any time of year. Also, she has a bouquet that she can keep forever, without the expense and trouble of having her fresh bouquet preserved. It can cost upwards of $300.00 to have a real bridal bouquet preserved. The price of a silk bouquet comes in much under that price, making it in most cases a better buy for the money. Of course, all your wedding flower needs from hair pieces, to boutonnieres to centerpieces and arrangements for the church can be made from silk flowers.

Silk flowers and plants are perfect for use in the home too. There are hundreds of different types of silk plants to choose from. Do you yearn to have an english ivy cascading over your mantle, but you have a cat? As a cat owner you know that english ivy is poisonous to your cat, so you don't dare. Do you have a dark corner that you want to spruce up with a variegated hosta? Even though they are shade loving hostas need some natural light. Are you tired of watering and babying your real plants only to find them not happy with anything you do? Silk plants are the perfect answer.

wedding floral arrangements

Flowers are symbols of eternal life in many different religions, cultures, and traditions. So why not bring them into your wedding to show everyone how you are now eternally bonded to your new spouse. Flowers used as decorations at your wedding will show everyone that you truly understand what it is to be in love and, very soon, in a marriage of never ending trust, love, forgiveness, and support. The flowers will affirm everyone’s faith in you and your new spouse while adding brilliant color, scents, and patterns to your precious wedding décor. Floral arrangements often inspire some kind of emotional or mental response or process based on their smell, feel, color, look, blossoms, leaves, textures, or anything else you can think of that you notice on a flower. Personally I like to make them and hang them on a mirror of a buffet cabinet in the dining room or on a round wall mirror in the living room. I call these “grandmother’s” wreaths, because I choose to make them in the old fashioned way in which my grandmother made them.

You will want to gather a bag full of “trimming” material, vines etc with leaves on them as well as fall flowers and lay them out to dry in a cool yet dry area, such as a garage. When your wreath making materials are completely dry, then you will be ready for the next step, the actual making of the wreath. You will want to cover your work area with newspapers to avoid messy cleanups as much as possible.

I like to use a wire coat hanger as a base for this kind of wreath rather than buying a wreath base, simply because my grandmother did it this way and she taught me. You may prefer to buy a wreath base or perhaps to try it both ways to see which way you like best. You will need your wire snips and you also might want to wear gloves for this, sometimes the vines will have unsuspected “prickers” on them and getting one of those in a finger doesn’t exactly add to the pleasure of wreath making.

Cut your foliage pieces, vines etc, into six inch lengths, take several of them and put them together, what ever amount looks right to you, I like to use three, then add some dried flowers to this mixture, this is called making a bundle. Wire your bundle to the top part of the hanger, next to the hook. Make another bundle and do the same thing, overlapping the first bundle so that the stems are covered. Do this around the circle of your wreath base until it is covered. The stems on the last bundle should be tucked up under the first bundle and wired in place. If you used a store bought wreath base, make a circle with the wire to hang the wreath by, then wrap and cut the wire, tucking the end in securely to avoid later injuries. If you used a coat hanger, the hook part is already there to use as a hanger so you just need to cut the wire and secure it. You may want to take this outside and lightly spray it with some sort of preservative, to hold it all in place. Some folks use extra firm hair spray for this purpose. Now give yourself a pat on the back, you have worked hard and you have made a beautiful decoration for your home.

Floral arrangement

Flowers are considered an exceptional and special present to give during Christmas. There is a wide range of flower arrangements available for purchase online if you don’t feel like putting one up together on your own. Anybody can do these simple arrangements if you follow my lead of simple instructions. The floral design selections for Christmas are almost infinite. A Christmas-themed centerpiece, a little arrangement on a Christmas mug or an ornamental container, a gift basket, a candle ring, and vase arrangements, would be a perfect present to give to a friend or family member.

A gift basket is fun to dress up and even more fun to give. What you need to do is look for a basket or a Christmas-themed container and put a few things in it. Some things that you could place inside the gift basket can be a sleek vase with a single flower on it, for instance an orange Gerbera daisy, a rose, or lily. You can also add some items like a Christmas dvd movie, a Christmas book, Christmas decors, Christmas cookie cutters, or sweet treats. First put together the bud vase in the container with the use of floral clay. If you use a wicker basket, use some cheerful Christmas tissue paper or other beautiful paper to line it. Organize the items in the basket so it would look nice and appealing. This would make a brilliant gift for a coworker, a teacher, a brother or a sister, or your parents.

One more wonderful idea is to organize a small collection together in a holiday or Christmas mug. Make use of floral foam as the foundation of the design. Stick in some leather leaf on the floral foam and add three white carnations, slot in at different heights, add another two stems of red pixie carnations and some baby's breath, and red hypericum berries. You could also add a few cedars or other greenery to the design. This little design is fascinating and the recipient of the gift will surely love it.

You could also create a nice and special arrangement for any vase of any sizes, the bigger the vase, the more flowers and greens will have to be used. Since its Christmas time, using red, white and if available, green flowers (such as green button mums), would surely make up a sensible theme. Furthermore, it is advisable to select from a variety of greenery, try not to stick on a particular one to avoid a dull look. Placing a red rose in a bud vase with a few baby's breath and cedar adds a wonderful accent to the arrangement. Dark red alstroemerias are also a nice touch-up.

Artificial floral arrangements

Flowers are really such a personal form of expression that it's hard to label things as appropriate or inappropriate. It really depends on your own preferrences and the message you're trying to get across. You have can always talk to the mother of the baby and see what she thinks might be good for a baby shower. For baby showers, most people want to stay with pastel colors and a delicate look. Of course, most people include baby's breath, but this isn't an absolute.

Some of my favorite flowers for baby showers and new arrivals are: stock, lisianthus, lilies, tuberoses, roses, sea lavender (caspia or limonium), godetia, snapdragons, alstroemeria, larkspur, and dendrobium orchids. These are a lot of flowers that I like to use for a baby shower, just because it not only gose with the baby shower out look but also it will make the shower look more for the child then anyone else. Please forgive me if I get too basic with my information. I'm not sure how experienced you are with floral design.

To make it look more nice you could use, the above flowers go best in bubble bowls - little bowls similar in appearance to goldfish bowls. These can be a little hard to work with. What I recommend is to buy some floral tape, not floral stem wrap, and tape several pieces across the top of the bowl in a crisscross pattern. Then use of greenery to cover the tape. Make sure the stems reach the water, and remove any leaves that fall below the water line.

You'll need something that cascades a bit to cover the edges of the tape on the bowl. Some greeneries I recommend are: plumosa (asparagus fern), salal (lemon leaf), leather leaf, silver dollar eucalyptus, seeded eucalyptus, and ivy. You can use baby eucalyptus, Bells of Ireland, and myrtle for a bit of height.

Don't stuff the bowl full of greens, as this will make placing flowers difficult. But use enough to cover the majority of the tape. If any tape still shows after the flowers are placed, you can always fill in with greens afterwards.

After this, add your flowers, starting with the largest flowers first (like lilies or roses, if you decide to use them). I always recommend to use odd numbers of flowers - 3, 5, 7, etc. You should make the arrangement symetrical, but try to use varied textures against one another for the most appealing look. Then add your tall flowers, and finally, fillers (baby's breath, sea lavender, etc.).

Of course, you can still arrange flowers in an urn. It tends to give a bit heavier, more formal look. You'd soak your brick of floral foam by filling a sink and placing the brick on top of the water and allowing it to sink, when saturated, the top will be around 1/4 inch above the water line. If you try to submerge the brick with force, you will get dry pockets inside the brick, which will kill the flowers.

Cut a piece of foam that fits tightly into your container, and then use a couple pieces of floral tape across the foam diagonally to secure the foam. Use greenery (I suggest salal and leather leaf) to cover the foam. With these arrangements, you should start with your tallest flowers first to create the frame for the arrangements, then place your focal flowers, then smaller flowers, and finally, fillers.

Vase arrangements are also a favorite and are never outdated. You would use the same technique as with filling a foam arrangement (greens first, follwed by tallest flowers). Vase arrangements do not need to be taped, usually. Be warned that these are very hard to transport, though.

So if don't want them to get brown from to much wind or something along those lines. I would sugget that you do the flowers were you are having the baby shower so that way the flowers still look nice an neat. You can always do the flowers the night before the shower so it will be ready to go or you can go early and do the flowers. It is just easyer to get that out of the way and not worry about loosing the flowers.

But if you want to try using fake flowers then that is a good iead too. You could go to any craft stores and get the flowers that you like and get acrylic water. It is a hard sustain that you can mix in a bowl pour it into the vase then put the flowers in the way you want and the acrylic water will harden and the flowers will still look nice. But the acrylic usullay takes all night to harden so doing it the night befor is a good idea.

christmas floral arrangements

<img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; Colourful lights, various ornaments and mistletoe provide a joyful environment for us to hide our Gifts under the Christmas tree. Above all, preparing for Christmas feeds our anticipation for when it finally arrives - along with the gifts! Decorations create an atmosphere that makes us feel warm and at home with loved ones. Hanging ornaments on the Christmas tree is often considered an enjoyable activity with the family. In some cases, people will create their own decorations or gifts, with the help of their artistic skills! Different households have different methods of decorating their homes. Some rely on typical objects such as lights, ornaments and Santa figures while others shy away from them. They may wish to be less over-the-top and subtly decorate their homes with a few vintage ornaments. However one question remains, why do we decorate in the first place? After some research we have come to the following conclusions:

Why people decorate their entire homes beside just the tree has several interpretations. Most of these traditions originate from hundreds of years ago when winter time was viewed as a time for celebration. The Christmas tree for example derives its history from the Germans who honoured these evergreen trees. The first time a tree was decorated inside, was by Martin Luther who displayed it with lights and put Christmas gifts underneath it. Holly is another example of am evergreen plant that is utilised for decoration and given as gifts at Christmas time, but some people believe that it also has religious connotations. Originating from the Pagans, mistletoe represents elements of the Christian religion and still symbolises fertility. Christmas Cards are considered to have originated from Britain in the 19th century due to increasing speed in mail delivery and flourishing technology. Over time the idea of Christmas decorations and gifts expanded. This means Christmas trees and Holly are not all that is displayed during the winter holiday period. Stockings, figures, banners, candles, seasonal gifts from previous years and the likes are brought out as well. Besides being for appearance purposes, such decorations may also be hand crafted by many creative individuals. If you have children, making Christmas decorations and hanging them up will help keep them busy and entertained as they wait to unwrap their Gifts

Christmas decorations whether bought or crafted do not always have to be tacky or old-fashioned. They can be tasteful, contemporary or classic. For example ornate Christmas decorations made from polished glass, such as the 12 Days of Christmas. Not only do they make lovely gifts but can be hung on a Christmas tree as well. Being made from glass, makes these precious ornaments special and unique to be re-used every year or given away to loved ones as Christmas gifts.

For those who are more creative minded, you can create your own Christmas cards to give along with your gifts. To make it easy, gift card materials can be acquired in sets and kits with different themes such as Santa's Grotto, Vintage Moments, 'Noel Noel' and so on. Each of them include 5 cards and envelopes with appropriate decorations that can be assembled in any way you like

Similarly a kit to make your own Christmas Crackers is a useful way to disguise some gifts at Christmas time. It provides a fun way to unwrap gifts and keep the family entertained in the evening. It makes up to 6 crackers with snaps, ties, coloured hats and labels. They are easy to make and therefore provide another opportunity to do something creative with your friends or relatives during Christmas time. Novelty gifts such as these are always well received

A Vintage Christmas Stocking allows for further classical Christmas decorations and gifts. Made of cotton, it has an embroidered message and plenty of room for gifts and toys. Particularly for impatient children, it can be used for some preliminary Christmas gifts a few days in advance.

Fresh floral arrangements

Those old enough to remember the days of Woodstock, Haight-Ashbury, and the Volkswagen microbus as the transportation of choice will also remember Peace Signs and Flower Power.

There was even a 1967 hit song by Scott McKenzie with the lyrics,” If you're going to San Francisco, be sure to wear some flowers in your hair.”

What goes around comes around, or so many a cliché lover has said, and the Flower Power of the 1960s has resurfaced again, not in hairpieces, but in tattoos.

Flower tattoos have an undeniable appeal to those of gentle spirit, both male and female. But politics aside, flower tattoos are simply lovely to look at and that alone makes them a favorite for women.

Women who began flocking to the boardrooms and offices of the American business culture in the 1980s also began flocking to the tattoo parlors of America, although at first their choices were both small and discreetly positioned.

All that has changed in the past twenty-five years, and the 21st century woman is willing to match any man in her choice of tattoos. Yet flower tattoos still remain the one which women most often request.

Many women choose single small flower tattoos as their introduction to the art of tattooing, and add more to it to form a garland or use it as the basis for a larger and more complex tattoo at a later date.

And flower tattoos allow the freedom to choose any colors in the tattoo artist’s ink palette, whether or not they are actually found in nature. Blue roses, for instance, are extremely popular floral tattoos, and represent a striving for the impossible, because there are no naturally blue roses.

Roses, blue or otherwise, are without a doubt the most requested of all floral tattoos. The have come to symbolize everything from passionate love to eternal beauty to, when their thorns are portrayed, danger and hardship.

Hawaiian floral tattoos, on the other hand, are generally considered unisex tattoos, and are as popular with men as with women. They can include everything from the big, showy yellow Hawaiian Hibiscus to the delicate Cattleya Orchids, the blooms of which can measure anywhere from the one inch to eight inches across.

Miniature Cattleyas are perfect for floral tattoos on the ankle or shoulder blade, while the larger blooms can decorate backs, arms, shoulders, legs, or any place that one wants covered in beauty.

One of the biggest appeals of floral tattoos is that they will never become outdated; and a skilled tattoo artist can even create fantasy flowers with the colors of one variety, petals of another, and leaves and stems of a third.

A floral tattoo of a single bloom can be centered around the navel; floral tattoos can be vines winding around arms or legs.

Floral tattoos, 21st century style, in fact, can do anything a garden full of natural flowers can do, and much, much more!

floral arrangements

Have you ever received a flower arrangement as a gift or a thank-you? If you’re like most people, you have at some point! So, how do you keep those wonderful flowers from wilting two days after you get them?

The first step in keeping those flowers fresh is creating a solution of plant food and water. Often, the store from which the flowers were bought will supply you with enough plant food for the life of the flower. However, if this is not the case, it can easily be purchased at any florist or garden center.

Plant food is important because it preserves your flowers for longer than water alone. Generally, you will want to use cool water, for the vase, unless your arrangement contains budded flowers that you want to bloom. If you want to hasten the blooming process, use warm tap or distilled water. Never use water from a water softener! The salt hinders water intake.

The next step is cutting the stems of the flowers. This is done to create maximum water absorption. Most florists recommend cutting the stem about a half inch from the bottom. This should be done placing the stems under running water, then placing the flowers directly into the prepared vase. Once you have arranged the flowers in a vase, check to make sure that none of the plant’s leaves are under water, because this causes unwanted bacteria to grow.

Always store your flowers upright. Keep them out of direct sunlight at all times. You will want to change the water daily, as well as add a small amount of plant food. Some people cut the stems daily, as well, but this is not recommended for flowers with shorter stems. Removing old or wilted flowers promptly will keep the arrangement looking fresher and more beautiful.

Ethylene gas comes from sources like garbage, overly ripe fruit, and pollution. It is quite harmful to most flowers, and especially to roses, carnations, and freesia. If at all possible, keep your arrangement as far from potential ethylene gas as you can. This harmful vapor can cause unopened buds not to blossom, as well as premature wilting.

silk floral arrangement

Everyone wants to have a skin that is as smooth as silk. Wouldn't it feel nice that once you touch your skin, it will always be smooth and soft? All women would want to achieve a skin that can be admired by many especially by men. A perfectly glowing skin will also show of how much you really take care of your body. Now that silk is also mentioned in the first part of the article, did you all know that silk is now also used in cosmetics? Yes, it is the very same silk that comes from the silkworm that spins and wraps itself to be able to form a cocoon and in order to protect the silkworm in its hibernating period. This silk cocoon is the one responsible for creating the silk threads and fibers.

Today, there are researches that justify that silk powder can also be used for cosmetics. Silk powder for cosmetics has moisture retention capabilities and at the same time have UV ray blocking properties. These qualities are present because the silk is originally used to protect the worm inside it. As we all know countries in Asia like Japan and China are considered as the traditional sources of silk. And these countries are also the first ones to introduce silk powder in their cosmetics. Because of this, many other countries have tried to imitate this new discovery. The researches and studies done by other countries and huge cosmetics manufacturers show that silk powder is indeed an excellent ingredient in the development of high quality cosmetics.

Silk powder for cosmetics has actually done a tremendous job in improving the quality of cosmetics today. Other countries apart from Japan and China have shown great interest in silk powder because of its excellent qualities. Because of this, many consider silk powder as one the highly treasured powders in beauty treatments. The qualities of the silk powder are really effective on the skin as it holds the moisture of the skin as per the temperature's requirements and the environment's humidity to where the person is in.

Wedding floral arrangement

Making floral preparations for a wedding event should be something striking and extraordinary. The florist should be able to know how to put in place quality as well as color. Remember that much of the floral arrangement will be used for features such as the taking of photographs.

There are lots of people who organize wedding events without considering the place of flowers. Even if flowers are considered, people hardly organize them for the taking of pictures. In most cases, the photographer will try to come up with one or two arrangements and this is usually done when he is about taking photographs. This is often something impractical which should not happen to you; or which should not even come about on a day like your wedding day.

First Things First

The first thing in your wedding organization should be making some provisions for flowers. Make sure you do this with the help of a florist. Avoid falling into the mess of leaving the work to be organized by the photographer. Make sure you provide for flowers that will not only reflect on the subject of your wedding, but also on the color of your outfit. What is a striking is to design a bouquet that will look alike to what will be used while walking down the aisle.

Make sure you provide for flowers that will also be used for taking wedding photos. You can make designs and shapes of all kinds. For example, you can use flowers to design arches. Remember that what you make arrangement for should be used to take a variety of photos.

Peculiarity of the Wedding Pictures

Your wedding pictures are what will make your wedding day a memorabilia. Therefore, you should endeavor to make necessary arrangements that are unique. This is when the role of the photographer will have to come in. If you are about to select a perfect photographer, remember to go through most of what he provides as samples. It may be through such samples that you will use to know how perfect your photographer is in taking wedding pictures. There are so many practical features that should be discussed about wedding pictures. For perfect photographing, make sure that you discuss most of these with the photographer. Also take note about making the photographer and the florist work as a team. Remember that taking perfect photos will revolve around the arrangement between what the florist and the photographer have to offer.

Floral arranging

Paintings are an essential element of any home decor. They are also a tasteful way to personalize your spaces. But to harmoniously arrange artworks and to create a well balanced and artful decor, some rules of thumb need to be followed:

1. Reinforce the existing theme

Consider the dominant inspirations in your room decor. Is the room contemporary or classic? Is the color scheme subdued and soothing or contrasted and energizing? The answers should give you a hint to which type of art would best enhance your decor. A colorful and powerful abstract painting would perfectly reinforce a creative modern decor but surely clash in a tranquil classic bedroom setting.

Furthermore, it is safer to stick to a specific theme when combining art in the same room. A figurative landscape watercolor would usually not combine well with a geometrical abstract creation.

2. Arrange the larger artworks first

It is recommended to hang the largest pieces first, as they will have the bigger impact on the room decor.

Make sure the orientation of the art fits the space created by the wall. A large horizontally oriented work of art will suit a long wide wall better. A vertically oriented painting will perfectly complement a narrow and high wall.

Secondly, always position the painting on the wall so that the centre of the painting is at your eye line.

Consider also the size of the furniture piece when hanging works of art above furniture. In general, a painting should not be wider than the sofa below it. To create a balanced decor, an artwork should be about two-thirds the width of the furniture piece.

Lastly, creating a visual connection between the furniture and the art will create a dramatic effect. A painting with a dominant green in it will look better near a sofa upholstered in the same hue. As it is usually not possible to change your furnishing’s color, you can also create more subtle visual links: place a striking red ceramic vessel on the chest bellow your vivid and passionate red abstract painting, or play with the colors of your cushions and throws, the possibilities are endless!

3. Regroup the smaller paintings and pictures

When it comes to arranging smaller artworks, remember that grouping pieces will create a stronger effect. Sprinkling various small paintings and pictures in your decor would only create a clustered and “noisy” space.

When positioning a group of paintings together, then paintings in the middle of the arrangement should be at eye level.

Looking for a formal atmosphere? Arrange your paintings symmetrically. Willing to create a more modern and dramatic space? Asymmetrical arrangements will help you create an artful space.

Also, if you wish to group together images of various sizes, place the larger pictures at the bottom and the smaller above to create well balanced arrangements.

send floral arrangements

After a divorce there is an obligation to maintain one’s spouse. This applies to both women and men. The less well-off partner can demand a financial settlement from the other. It can be an immediate payment of capital or the transfer of the marital home if children are involved. This type of settlement is known as a “clean break” settlement. Otherwise, maintenance may be paid in the form of periodic payments.

Rarely the court will order payment to a partner with a similar earning capacity to the other, or where the marriage was short, both partners were young and no children involved.

Older women who have not worked and spent most of their lives looking after the home and children may be entitled to significant benefits, including some of their husband’s pension rights on retirement.

The court will calculate the amount of maintenance the less well off party is entitled to, but they will also take a lot of other matters into consideration when doing this calculation, eg the loss of employment, or they may wish to start a new family. The less well off may also be eligible for benefits which will mean that they won’t need so much maintenance.

If the receiver of maintenance remarries, they will no longer be eligible for maintenance from the previous partner.

Children.

Conflict may take place over care of the children involved in the broken marriage. Both parents are legally responsible for the maintenance of their children until they turn at least 16 years of age. If there are children involved in a divorce, the decree absolute will not be issued until the court is satisfied that the children’s best interests have been agreed on.

The plaintiff will need to send the court a Statement of Arrangements at the outset. This will detail the children’s care, living arrangements and financial maintenance.

If the District Judge is unsatisfied with the statement, the couple will have to attend a hearing to discuss and issue a court order detailing further arrangements which must be complied to. The court has the power to enforce the order on the partner who does not comply with its requirements.

Holiday floral arrangements

Floral design is one of the best jobs or hobbies in the world because you can really pour yourself into it. Every piece can be a bit different than the last and can be inspired by the way you are feeling, a memory, a person in your life, or the client you are arranging for. Flowers allow people to pour all of their emotions into them and create beautiful things. If you are so inclined, you can make flowers your hobby or you can even make flowers your career. There is a lot of money as well as a lot of joy to be found in such a career, but to continue to do well you have to dig deep for continued creativity, originality, and inspiration.

Many who get into the floral design field believe that their current design trends will see them though decades of business, but this may not be true. If you get into the business you need to continue to be open to new things. The reason for this is that if you want to attract new clients as well as younger clients and you need to change up your designs from time to time and offer new things. If you always offer the same thing, you will find that some of your clients get tired of the same old design or you may have trouble attracting new clients. It is important to stay abreast of what is new and popular in the floral world, even if you do not incorporate all of the contemporary designs into your own.

Florists can continue to learn by buying new books, attending classes and seminars, receiving newsletters, and subscribing to magazines. All of these mediums will offer even the most experienced florists some new tips and techniques that will allow them to modernize their designs, make difficult designs easier to create, or simply inspire new techniques. There are always new and exciting things that can be done with flowers, but if you are never introduced to the information, you cannot incorporate the information into your designs.

If you want to continue to offer cutting edge designs to your clients you can, no matter how long you have been in the business. Just because you got into floral design 50 years ago doesn’t mean your arrangements need to look like they are 50 years old. If you have an eye for beauty, you can create some very contemporary yet beautiful pieces. You may also be surprised to see that what was once popular is becoming popular again, so you can call on old skills as well as mix in some new skills for some really interesting pieces. The more you learn, the more artistic your arrangements can be, and your clients will appreciate that.

unique floral arrangements

Flowers have long been used to symbolize life’s important events and emotions. Roses are symbols of love, lilies, the flowers of death and renewal, and carnations a sign of appreciation. We use flowers as wedding decorations, Valentine’s Day presents and Christmas ornaments. No matter what the occasion is, a beautiful flower arrangement is a wonderful way to celebrate life through vibrant colors and rich floral scents.

Florists provide customers with a variety of arrangements made specifically for certain occasions and events. However, if you are on a budget, flower arrangements can be fairly pricey. Professional florists charge exorbitant amounts for their expertise, and the flowers themselves can be extremely expensive. Making your own arrangements can be a fun and creative alternative to ordering pieces from a florist. By purchasing flowers individually, you can choose the exact colors and scents you need to say exactly what you want to communicate.

When making your own flower arrangement, you should first consider its purpose. If you are making arrangements for a wedding, white is typically the presiding color. You should start with basic white flowers and add a few accents that match the bridesmaids’ dresses. Large leafy green pieces add a nice contrast to delicate buds for table centerpieces, and sometimes simplicity is the best aesthetic tactic. If you are making centerpieces for several tables, you can purchase your flowers in bulk and use one design over and over again, or you can make each piece an individual work of art.

For vase arrangements, choose your container first, and pick flowers that are the correct height for the vase. When you cut your flowers, be sure to cut the stems at an angle so they can absorb water correctly and stay fresh for a long time. Vase arrangements require a focal point, and this can be one large flower or a grouping of several. It is important to choose a color scheme and to stick with it. For instance, you would not want to mix red and pink roses, or to combine yellow daisies with died green carnations. Make sure you choose flowers that look and smell good in combination with each other, and fill in the gaps with baby’s breath and leafy greenery.

When you are making larger potted flower arrangements, an aesthetically pleasing plant is a great base for your design. However, you might not want to combine a spiky cactus with soft blooming roses. If you are using only flowers, you will need a piece of arranging foam to provide a structure for the piece. Green foam can be purchased at most craft stores, and it can be cut to fit any shape you need. Before you start sticking in your stems, you might sketch out an idea of the final product. If the arrangement is to be large, pick a few large flowers to act as focal points rather than picking a multitude of tiny blooms. Too many small flowers distract the eye and make the arrangement seem busy rather than soothing.

Table floral arrangements

At every wedding occasion, their first attention will be that of the bride and the groom. This is what every guest will be coming to see. The second point will be given to the floral organization. This will particularly be the table arrangements. Remember that most guests will be sitting directly in front of these flowers and will be able to directly throw in their appreciation or rejection of what has been done. Always remember the following if you intend to make the table floral arrangement perfect for your wedding:

A lot of people fail to understand that designing the tables at every wedding event with special floral designs seem to be perfect just like making general floral arrangements for the wedding venue. Remember that these will also go a long way to link up the theme, color as well as the atmosphere of the wedding into one unique event. Coming up with something perfect is not an easy thing. There are so many considerations which will be brought into play. Whatever you decide on should be something that should be pleasing and attractive to the eyes as well as to the minds.

What Considerations Should You Think Of?

When thinking of floral arrangements on the tables, it may not necessarily be considered on every table. This will depend on what you envisage. But remember that too much floral arrangements may end up spoiling the whole atmosphere. For this reason, you may consider making such arrangements only a few tables and these tables should be those at strategic positions. Why not think of the table of the newly wedded couple, the table of the cake and the dining table. Floral arrangements of the cake table should be simple. A circlet of flowers can simple be placed round the cake or even on a stand near the cake.

Floral arrangements on the table of the newly wedded couple should be something that will bring in some sense of admiration for the couples. Why not think of putting the bouquet of both the bride and her maid on the table? This should be striking. You may also decide to dress the candle stands or holders with flowers and this should also be thought of when thinking of the guests’ tables. But make sure that the candle stands or holders are tall enough so that the flowers do not shade the faces of anyone.

You can also decide to adorn the guests’ tables with flowers either in the form or centerpieces or making small floral designs on their chairs. But you may not have the budget to provide for every table. In such a case, you can place a small rose flower or any other flower that is striking for every female invitee. This is not only something extraordinary, but this is also something that may be taken home as gift by the guests.

Guidelines for Making Floral Designs on the Tables

One of the best places to position table flowers is at the center of the table. But you should make sure that the flowers are not too large. Remember that they may occupy a greater portion of the table if they are too large. You may opt for tall flowers. This will give much space to the table. However, it may block views to the end of the hall. Always think of the size of the hall and the positioning of the bride and the groom while making considerations on what flowers to include in your decoration list.
